Festival Director

 

Mark Lipman, is the founder of  Vagabond and the Culver City Book Festival; recipient of the 2015 Joe Hill Labor Poetry Award; winner of the 2016 International Latino Book Awards for The Border Crossed Us (an anthology to end apartheid); editor and publisher of RISE (an anthology of Power and Unity), EXTREME (an anthology for social and environmental justice) and most recently Reimagine America (an anthology for the future); a writer, poet, multi-media artist and activist, is the author of ten books, most recently, Dear City Council and The Role of the Revolutionary Poet in Society and a Strategic Vision for the 21st Century. Co-founder of the Berkeley Stop the War Coalition (USA), Agir Contre la Guerre (France) and Occupy Los Angeles, he’s been an outspoken critic of war and occupation since 2001 and uses poetry to connect communities to the greater social issues that affect all of our lives, while building consciousness through the spoken word. He has also served as the Chair of Culver City’s Advisory Committee on Housing and Homelessness, and is a board member of POWER (People Organized for Westside Renewal); member of the IWW (Industrial Workers of the World), Ground Game LA, Veterans for Peace, Occupy Venice, the Revolutionary Poets Brigade, 100 Thousand Poets for Change, Poetry Renaissance and the World Poetry Movement.  

 

Mark Lipman, Fondatore della casa editrice VAGABOND, il Culver City Book Festival, e il Elba Poetry Festival, è scrittore, poeta, artista multimediale e attivista. E’ autore di dieci libri, tra i più recenti, The Role of the Revolutionary Poet in Society and a Strategic Vision for the 21st Century. Nel 2015 ha ricevuto il Joe Hill Labor Poetry Award e nel 2016 il International Latino Book Award (The Border Crossed Us). E’ co-fondatore di Berkeley Stop the War Coalition (USA), Agir Contre la Guerre (Francia) e Occupy Los Angeles e dal 2001 critica con grande fervore la guerra e l’occupazione. Mark utilizza la poesia per sensibilizzare le comunità sulle grandi questioni sociali che influenzano la vita di tuttii, spesso utilizzando la poesia orale spoken word. È stato anche presidente del comitato consultivo di Culver City per l'edilizia abitativa e i senzatetto. Attualmente è membro delle seguenti associazioni: POWER (People Organized for Westside Renewal), Occupy Venice, dei Wobblies, International Workers of the World (IWW). the Revolutionary Poets Brigade, 100 Thousand Poets for Change, Poetry Renaissance, the World Poetry Movement.

Edoardo Olmi è nato a Firenze nel 1984. Ha pubblicato Il porcospino in pegaso (2010), R: exist-stance (2017) e Stagioni scalene (2021). Ha vinto il terzo premio del Carver 2011, il Premio Nabokov 2017 ed il Premio Il Delfino 2021. E’ stato inserito nel censimento dei poeti italiani tra i 20 e i 40 anni realizzato da pordenonelegge.it. Suoi testi sono apparsi – fra gli altri – sui blog di Imperfetta Ellisse, La macchina sognante e Poesia del nostro tempo. Sono stati tradotti in inglese per due antologie internazionali delle Revolutionary Poets Brigade. Oltre che per la rivista americana Solstice e per Neke, The New Zealand Journal of Translation Studies della Victoria University di Wellington in Nuova Zelanda. E sono stati tradotti in spagnolo dal poeta messicano Alberto Blanco. Attualmente è curatore, assieme a Marco Incardona, della collana editoriale di Affluenti per Edizioni Ensemble.

He won the third prize of the Carver 2011, the 2017 Nabokov Prize and the 2021 Il Delfino Prize. He was included in the census of Italian poets between 20 and 40 years old made by pordenonelegge.it. Texts by him have appeared - among others - on the blogs of Imperfetta Ellisse, The dream machine and Poetry of our time. They have been translated into English for two international anthologies of the Revolutionary Poets Brigade. As well as for the American magazine Solstice and for Neke, The New Zealand Journal of Translation Studies of Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. And they were translated into Spanish by the Mexican poet Alberto Blanco. He is currently curator, together with Marco Incardona, of the publishing series of Affluenti for Edizioni Ensemble.  

Angela Galli Visual artist, writer, editor .. She is one of the winners, in 2009, of the Pink Ink Noir literary competition, Crimes per Lady, later published by ED Zona, curated by poet Daniela Rossi for the Municipality of Cavriago Reggio Emilia. In December 2010, together with Jacqueline Monica Magi, she was awarded the Selection Award as part of the Literary Award: Tuscan Writer of the Year 2010; with the book "The body of a woman" ED Del Bucchia. You have national and international exhibitions as an artist, two foreign artist residencies. You are part of the Senigallia MUSINF collection as part of the Self-portrait project under the care of Giorgio Bonomi. Several book publications. Since 2012 you have directed the editorial project of the Persephone Edizioni publishing house.

Angela Galli Arista visiva, scrittrice, editrice.. È una delle vincitrici,  nel 2009,  del concorso letterario Pink Ink Noir, Delitti per Signora, pubblicato poi da ED Zona, curato dalla poetessa Daniela Rossi per il Comune di Cavriago Reggio Emilia.  Nel dicembre 2010 insieme a Jacqueline Monica Magi è stata premiata con il Premio Selezione nell’ambito del Premio Letterario:  Scrittore Toscano dell’Anno 2010; con il libro “Il corpo di una donna”ED Del Bucchia. Ha come artista mostre nazionali e internazionali, due residenze di artista estere. Fa parte della collezione del MUSINF di Senigallia nell’ambito del progetto dell’Autoritratto sotto la cura di Giorgio Bonomi. Diverse pubblicazioni librarie. Dal 2012 dirige il progetto editoriale della Casa Editrice Persephone Edizioni.

 

 Poets' Residence Host

Patrick A Harford is an Australian, an earth scientist.  His work takes him throughout the globe – so Patrick experiences many places and many forms of labor.  Patrick has kept his youthful commitment to poetry for over 50 years now – through poetry Patrick chronicles those places of our world, its beauties, truths, and its iniquities.  Patrick’s poems present places and people.  Most have scars from centuries of war and conflict, and the lashings of huge wealth amid grinding poverty. Patrick's poems are his guides, his models, and they deal with his demons.

Patrick A Harford è un australiano, uno scienziato della terra. Il suo lavoro lo porta in tutto il mondo, quindi Patrick sperimenta molti luoghi e molte forme di lavoro. Patrick ha mantenuto il suo impegno giovanile per la poesia per oltre 50 anni: attraverso la poesia Patrick racconta quei luoghi del nostro mondo, le sue bellezze, verità e iniquità. Le poesie di Patrick presentano luoghi e persone. La maggior parte ha le cicatrici di secoli di guerre e conflitti e le frustate di enormi ricchezze in mezzo a una povertà schiacciante. Le poesie di Patrick sono le sue guide, i suoi modelli e si occupano dei suoi demoni.
